Minutes recorded on Feb. 6, 2007

We dedicate this sacrifice to you Father Zeus, who holds the wide heavens, and your daughter grey-eyed Athena, guardian of our fair city. Preside over this assembly and grant us your favor. Guard this great city from the unjust and remove the mist of desire from our minds that we may think and speak clearly and truthfully.

The oligarch David Dennard began a proposal which would limit voters in the assembly to those who can pay taxes based on the amount of land they own. However, he withdrew this proposal for further development.

(bickering/squabbling and such—outcome unknown)

Mod. Dem. Julianna Peterson proposed a resolution which stated:

The Assembly should reaffirm the importance of valuing a man’s patriotism rather than his mercenary standing (wealth). (Those without property may vote.)

Passed: 9 to 5

(more bickering with no discernable outcome)

The impoverished farmer proposed:

No Athenian may be tried for bringing an Athenian to court because of a land claim, those suits involving the restoration of “Pre—Spartan siege” lands.

Passed: 7 to 6

End.
